About Us & What You Can Expect

The Cover Bridge Inn is a traditional Yorkshire Dales inn where a warm welcome has always been at the heart of what we do. Whether you are calling in for a drink, joining us for a meal or staying overnight, we aim to provide a relaxed and comfortable place to pause during your visit to Wensleydale.

We are proud to be a stop for walkers, cyclists, anglers and travellers passing through the area, offering simple hospitality, good food and a friendly atmosphere throughout the year.

Our History

Welcoming travellers and visitors for generations

The Cover Bridge Inn has welcomed travellers for centuries, originally serving those journeying through Wensleydale along the old routes that crossed the River Ure nearby. Built as a traditional coaching inn, it became a familiar resting place for people moving between the market towns and across the Dales.

Over time the inn has changed hands and names, but its purpose has remained much the same a place to pause, refresh and enjoy simple hospitality. Many of the building’s character features still remain, giving a sense of the long history that continues today.
